3M™ Foam Earplugs

The challenge of hearing protection
Millions of workers are exposed to hearing hazards every year, occupational hearing loss is still the number one reported worker illness in manufacturing.

You can advance your hearing conservation program with a customized and comprehensive approach to the hearing protection challenge. Implementing a solution that really makes a difference begins with an understanding of the hazards, the regulations, and the factors that impact protection.

The 3M™ 1100 Earplugs offer high noise reduction at an affordable price. The soft, slow-recovery foam has a smooth surface and tapered design, so it feels more comfortable in the ear.
High noise reduction*
The soft, slow-recovery foam earplugs are designed to help fit the ear canal.

Compatible with the 3M™ E-A-Rfit™ Dual-Ear Validation System
E-A-Rfit™ provides an accurate quantitative assessment of how much noise reduction a hearing protector provides to an individual worker.

*U.S. EPA specifies the NRR as the measure of hearing protector noise reduction. However, 3M makes no warranties as to the suitability of the NRR for this purpose. 3M strongly recommends personal fit testing of hearing protectors. Research suggests that users may receive less noise reduction than indicated by the attenuation label value(s) on the packaging due to variation in fit, fitting skill, and motivation of the user. Refer to applicable regulations or guidance on how to adjust attenuation label values. It is recommended that the NRR be reduced by 50% to better estimate typical protection.

Disposable Foam Earplugs

3M™ Disposable Foam Earplugs, made from slow-recovery foam, help provide a combination of comfort and hearing protection for users. Once the foam earplugs are compressed into small cylinders (rolled down), they are easy to insert into ears where the slow recovery foam expands to fit the ear canals.

Fitting Instructions

1. ROLL and compress disposable foam earplugs into a very thin crease-free cylinder.

2. REACH around the head to pull the ear outward and upward to help straighten the ear canal. Insert compressed earplug well into the ear canal.

3. CHECK FIT after inserting earplug.

4.LISTEN to steady loud noise with earplugs in both ears. Cover ears with tightly cupped hands. Noise should sound about the same whether or not ears are covered.

CAUTION: For greater comfort and safety, remove earplug slowly with twisting motion to gradually break the seal.

The right fit test. Right now.

3M™ E-A-Rfit™ Dual-Ear Validation System

The 3M™ E-A-Rfit™ Dual-Ear Validation System assesses the amount of attenuation provided to a user of hearing protection.

Features:

 • Dual-ear testing
 • Fast, clear accurate results
 • Earmuff and earplug testing capability
 • Tests 7 frequencies on both ears simultaneously
 • Seamless software integration
 • Science-based, quantitative testing
 • Compact design
 • Compliant with ANSI/ASA S12.71-2018

3M™ 1100 Earplugs are made with soft foam and a tapered design to help provide a noise blocking seal. These earplugs are easy to roll down and insert, with the foam softening with body temperature to improve comfort over extended use. One size fits most.

Slow recovery foam gives the user time to get the compressed foam cylinder (rolled down earplug) into the ear before the foam fully expands to fill the ear canal. Available with or without cords to suit user preference. Dispenser packaging option available. This product is EARfit testable to help validate the level of protection the individual user is getting.
